Section 4 Secondary Preliminary Tests Preliminary 1.2 and 1.3 *Secondary Preliminary will be split into two classes if required - split will be random and not by age or year level.

Primary competition: is restricted to athletes up to 12 years of age in the year of competition. Riders who may be over 12 years of age and still enrolled in Primary School may apply to the NIC (National Committee) for special consideration to be allowed to compete as a Primary school student.
Intermediate Division: is defined as those athletes turning 12 (if in Secondary School), 13 and 14 years of age in the current year.
Senior Division: is for those athletes turning 15, 16, 17 and 18 years of age in the current year. (Students over 18 years of age, and who are members of EA and full time High School students may apply for special consideration to be allowed to compete.)
All classes except for Secondary Preliminary and Primary Preparatory classes go towards Qualifiers for the EA Nationals when competing at VEIS Qualifier events (not regional events).
Secondary Preliminary As this is not an EA Qualifier event age guidelines do not apply. This section is open to Secondary riders and if required the class will be split randomly into two groups.
Primary Preparatory is for those Primary riders who cannot yet canter confidently. Riders who can canter confidently should enter the higher levels as appropriate.
The Championship placings at each level count for team points.
Victorian Series points will be allocated as per the series rules for applicable events.
GENERAL RULES AND CONDITIONS FOR INTERSCHOOL COMPETITIONS
EA Rules and Code of Conduct apply in conjuction with ISD rules, these can be found at www.equestrian.org.au or www.vic.equestrian.org.au
Dressage Tests January 2014 Updated Version (Preparatory updated January 2013)
Competitions open to all currently enrolled primary and secondary school students.
All riders must be currently enrolled at the school they are representing and MUST be accompanied by an adult.
No riders other than those competing are allowed to ride on the grounds.
One horse, one rider rule applies. Riders may ride more than one horse, numbers permitting.
Maximum 3 tests per horse per day as per EA rules.
Entry forms must be signed by the School Principal / Director of Sport / Equestrian Coordinator.
Classes filled in order of entry. Classes allocated at the discretion of the Entry Secretary.
Jackpot entries (2 tests at the same level/section). Single tests may be ridden - must be at the appropriate level and/or the next highest level, subject to space, Email to arrange.
Riders may request to ride HC (non competitior) in Preliminary and above sections - subject to space and at the discretion of the Organisers.
The Release and Waiver form MUST be filled in and signed by rider / parent / guardian
Entries will only be accepted with full payment
In the event of excessive entries, a ballot will take place of all entries received by the Close of Entries date
Late entries - $10 if space available – Wait list taken.
Scratchings after the Close of Entries. As per EA Rules, a vet/doctor certificate is required for return of entry money less $15.00 administration costs.
Horses must be entered in their correct EA level.
Inexperienced riders on horses graded above Elementary may apply to ride at Novice Level. Application is to be in writing to the OC BEFORE the close of entries.
Riders may compete at their appropriate level and the next higher level. Any Rider deemed to be riding in an incorrect grade will be eliminated and will be required to compete at a level deemed appropriate by the committee after consultation with all relevant parties.
Riders may compete individually or as a team (minimum 3 riders from the same school to make up a team).
No riders other than those competing are allowed to ride on the grounds.
A school may have any number of riders.
EA tests may be called.
Strictly NO PARKING and NO HORSES on the athletics field.
Horses to remain in designated riding areas, away from spectator and pedestrian zones.
Lunging of horses on Polo field only away from ridden horses.
All appeals must be lodged by the Team Manager to the organising committee, no later than 30 minutes after the incident accompanied by $50.00, which will only be refunded if the protest is upheld. All appeals will be considered by the Jury of Appeal on the day.
DRESS - All riders must wear currently approved helmets and boots whilst mounted. School equestrian uniform including short or long sleeve shirt, tie, woollen v-necked jumper, white, beige fawn or banana jodhpurs must be worn in all competition and for presentations. Jackets, Blazers and sleeveless shirts are strictly forbidden uniform, except for Elementary and above where Jackets may be worn. Gloves must be worn in Dressage.
All riders must provide own numbers which must be displayed on both sides of their horse, numbers as per the timed draw.
Team manager/School representative is responsible for gear check prior to competing. Inappropriate gear may result in elimination. Spurs may be used at all levels. Dressage whips may be carried. Crops may be used in Primary sections.
CONDUCT OF THE EVENT
Events may run later or earlier than advertised. Riders are expected to be aware if changes to times and report accordingly.
Riders who do not report in time to ride in their draw may be eliminated. The Committee reserves the right to alter, delete any event, and refuse entry with or without a reason.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Interschool Dressage, Hillcrest Christian College, Toorak College, St Paul's Anglican Grammar School, Flinders Community Christian College and Ayr Hill Equestrian Centre will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury caused to any person, horse or property arising from this event. The judges decision is final.
